Rental demand remains strong in Calgary and even more so in Edmonton

Vacancy rates in Canada, including Alberta, are expected to rise, easing renter pressure due to increased supply and falling advertised rents. Calgary saw a 3.5% drop in asking rents with new purpose-built rentals boosting vacancy from 1.4% to 4.6%. Edmonton and Calgary still experience rent growth but at slower rates. CMHC programs now support over 88% of new apartment construction, driving supply increases rather than demand drops.
